History Timeline & Taekwon-Do Lineage
Although TCTKD was founded in 2011, its instructor background goes back to 1978, when, as a teenager our chief instructor Mr Sangha was introduced to Taekwon-Do in Hillingdon, West London by his brother the late Master LS Sangha VIII who taught Taekwon-Do to world champion Zak Espi as well as countless tournament winning BUTF black belts. Hillingdon was also where a number of current UK ITF Grandmasters honed their knowledge and skills as coloured belts under the tutelage of the late Grandmaster RMK Choy, (then a 3rd Dan) of the United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Association (UKTA).
At that time the UKTA was chaired by the father of UK Taekwon-Do, Master Rhee Ki Ha, (then a 7th Dan) - who, as one of General Choi's original 12 masters brought Taekwon-Do to the UK in 1967.
TCTKD Chief Instructor Mr Sangha gained his black belt under Master Rhee in Derby, 1987 and became an ITF certified instructor in the same year. Master Rhee subsequently became the first Grandmaster in the world to be promoted to 9th Dan (the highest accolade in ITF TKD) by the founder in 1997.
In 1988, Grandmaster RMK Choy formed the British United Taekwon-Do Federation (BUTF) of which Mr Sangha was a founding instructor. During his tenure as BUTF chairman, Grandmaster Choy was the recipient of ITF plaque 306, the first to be presented to a UK instructor, by the founder General Choi. He was also the first 8th Dan to be promoted in the UK by the founder.

As part of the tournament scene between 1988 and 1992, Mr Sangha competed at national level. He won 3 golds and 1 bronze in championships in England, Scotland and Wales. As an assistant instructor in London Mr Sangha also taught students to coloured belts who have since gone on to become Masters themselves.
